New York, NY --  Black Progressive Action Coalition (BPAC) announced its new seven-figure advocacy campaign to support passing the For the People Act (Senate Bill S.1). The bill, along with the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, would expand access to the ballot box and restore the full protections of the original, bipartisan Voting Rights Act of 1965.

BPAC's seven-figure campaign will include digital ads targeting Black voters in several states — including WV and AZ — as well as direct mail, volunteer text and phoning, postcards to Senators, and door-to-door educational canvasses. Black Progressive Action Coalition Executive Director, Adrianne Shropshire released the following statement:

“Less than six months after the historic turnout in the 2020 election, hundreds of voter suppression bills have flooded state legislatures, seeking to limit access to the ballot.

As a country, we cannot return to Jim Crow-era discrimination designed to keep Black voters away from the ballot box and nullify their voices in our society.  This is the biggest civil rights fight in a generation.  Senators need to get on the right side of history and vote yes on the For the People Act (Senate Bill S.1).and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (Senate Bill S.4263).”
